The Recovery Run
Blisters are bad.
Went for a short, easy run this evening to recover from my race. I thought it would be a good idea to get the blood moving again. And, you know what? It was. Overall, I felt pretty good. Tight, but not really tired. Then again, I'm always tight. It's just the way I'm built. What didn't feel good was the blisters in my arches. Not good times. They're pretty nasty. They've been hurting walking around, so I taped them up pretty good before my run. Good thing I did, they hurt. They still hurt. They will probably hurt tomorrow. I'm officially annoyed. Right now, I need to go stretch.

I was bummed you weren't up at the Cross in the Glen this weekend as your commentary on the "incident" would have been priceless!
looking forward to PGC- rumor has it you're going to race the toughest two on roller skis with eli on your back- any truth to that?

@sven: In general, my "commentary" on things isn't necessarily fit for print. In order to rollerski up the Road I would first need to find my rollerskis, which is fodder for another post then I would need to be paid an excessive amount of money. Oh yeah, not to mention the whole rule breaking/illegal part of the equation.

But someone should write up a report about "the incident"! I've been getting bits and pieces about it. Maybe Ward will give us the gory details.

C'mon, give us a clue. When looking at the results and seeing W.Solar- DNF-TECHNICAL- it raises all sorts of questions
What happened??

Ok, here's my interpretation. Mind you I was again off property when this all went down so I'm working from other's trying to fill me in. You may know that Ward used to work here at Trails so I'm guessing that he still feels a bit of ownership when he visits. During Ward's race he came upon, or otherwise found that there was a vehicle out on the course. He stopped his race, asked the fellow what he was doing out there, got the answer that the fellow was "lost". Ward told him to follow as he would show him the way off the trail system. The fellow took off, Ward again stopped him and exchanged some pleasantries with him. Apparently the fellow took off again and made his way to the Auto Road and preceeded to drive up the Road. With construction repairs taking place at the two mile point he didn't get far. Since there is only one way up and down the Auto Road Mary had only to wait for him to come back down to the locked gate. Long story short the fellow was lead away in handcuffs by the State Police. We take our private property right seriously here - in addition to endangering the racers, this fellow simply wouldn't stop and take direction from the property managers which is called criminal trespassing. Unfortunately Ward's race was over when he chose to do the right thing and stop the motorist rather than race around him. Ward was a good 6 minutes ahead of the field at that point with about two laps to go. Although the timers and racers wanted him to accept first place, Ward would have none of it saying that he had not finished properly.

I also heard Ward was wearing a cape.
Holy threadjack, Batman!

So what are you saying Ryan, arrests on the auto road have nothing to do with blisters and recovery runs

@ c in c: Only in certain occasions.
There are three outhouses at Great Glen Trails, all of them historic, none of them currently in use.
