Whitewater Kayaking

Great Glen Trails offers kayaking trips that get you onto some of the most beautiful whitewater in New England. Introductory classes will teach you the basics, and our advanced lessons will take you to the next level.

  Beginner Program
If you’re ready to try a new sport, this is the program for you. Our fastest growing program has turned hundreds of people on to this awesome sport. You don't need any paddling experience to enroll, just a willingness to try something new. Bring a friend or two as we do have a two-person minimum for this program.
Our Beginner Program focuses on paddling basics and safety, and we’ll make sure you’re having fun on the water the first day out. The skills you will learn will allow you to continue in the sport. During the course, you will learn how to wet exit, perform aggressive self rescues, paddle your boat in every direction, read river hydrology, practice eddy turns and peel outs, ferrying across the river, braces and more. Program runs 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.

COST: $100

Private Clinics
You’ve mastered the basics, now it’s time to fine tune your skills. Our Private Clinics are a whole day of paddling instruction devoted to you. Whether you are just beginning to run rivers or trying to master your flat spins on a wave, we can help improve your paddling. Work with us on
 
boat outfitting, reading rivers, river safety, how to use the right muscles to power your boat, or technical information to break down the elements of each stroke to create paddling efficiency. Program runs 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.

COST: $150 for individual or $125 per person if semi-private.

In 1994 Great Glen Trails pioneered the use of the Global Positioning System (GPS) in wetland mapping when they became the first company allowed to use this technology during the Department of Environmental Services permitting process.
