Today, Oct 14 was the beginning of our 5 part Cyclocross series.  A strong turnout of beginners to experts competed in light snow squalls, chilly temps and beautiful fall foliage.  Come on out and join the fun next Sunday.  It's also a fun spectator event with all of the course accessible.

The first stage of the 2007 Porky Gulch Classic is in the books. Racing shifts to Story Land for the criterium this afternoon.

Racing through Story Land—not your average, fairy-tale criterium! Two stages are in the books, and the Porky Gulch Classic wraps up tomorrow with the Rockpile Rampage Cyclocross at Great Glen Trails.

Day two of the Porky Gulch Classic is underway on a perfect day in Pinkham Notch with the Rockpile Rampage Cyclocross.

Snow has fallen on Mt. Washington and the temps are getting cooler. It won't be long before the SnowCoach begins its trips up Mt. Washington. But before that, we'll have the snowguns going for early season cross country skiing. Be sure to check out our blog for all the latest.

With the temperatures occasionally dipping well below freezing, we've been able to get a start on snowmaking.  Friday night was fairly productive although it's been too warm ever since then to continue.  We'll get at it again as soon as possible.

With 16" of snow from yesterday and last night, this is the nicest Christmas present I can imagine.  Still snowing and feeling a lot like winter in Pinkham Notch should feel.  Come on out!

Nordic Sprint racing can be quite intense at times, the action is fast and furious.  Saturday's Atomic Nordic Sprint races attracted over 120 racers from all over NE.  See "Events" for results and more photos.

Everyone's favorite ski model was seen on the trails at Great Glen Trails enjoying the great early season snow on Sunday.

Great Glen Trails and Gorham Middle High School hosted a High School cross country race this afternoon attended by Hopkinton, Profile, Moultonborough and  Derryfield. Here Gorham's Jon Chabot charges down the 5 k course. Click here for more photos and results.

Ok, so it's not the most dramatic shot but the best I could do under the circumstances.  Nice big snow storm today, 12 inches so far at 3:45.  We'll get the Piston Bully out tomorrow and set some beautiful skate lanes and tracks.

What a perfect day!  No wind, sunny, VR 40and perfect tracks.  No wonder Paul and Mary Ann are smiling!

It's still snowing! Another 6-8" of snow today makes for nothing but white everywhere you look. The skiing will be great this weekend, but the snowshoeing...that will be unbelievable! See you soon!

If you like snowshoeing or thought you'd like to try it some day, this is your year!  With all the new snow coming so regularly, the snowshoeing has been just incredible.  It's a beautiful way to get out in the wooods and enjoy the winter.

Dogsledding Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at GGT!  Call for details.  We went through the familiarization Friday night and many of our crew had incredible rides out on the trail system under a beautiful moon lite sky.  These athletic dogs will amaze you!

Some early morning ski time brings more than the peace and quiet of the moment.  Saturday mornings alpinglow was particularly beautiful.

Plenty of families out enjoying the tubing hill this week! Why aren't you?!?! Great times and great snow all week...with more on the way.

The view from Great Angel Station out into the Great Gulf is pretty awe inspiring when there's a fresh layer of snow in the high peaks.

What a fabulous winter this is so far.  Another 12 inches of light powder last night has this Notch looking just right.  Even in the fresh powda' the skating was pretty sweet this morning.

Tons of snow means great conditions. Throw in a great forecast for the weekend, and I know just where you should be tomorrow.

After a mixed precip filled morning, it's snowing steadily this afternoon. We'll start grooming late tonight, and we'll have midwinter excellent conditions by the time you arrive at 8:30 tomorrow morning.

Yes, the wind does blow occasionally here in Pinkham Notch.  The 8 inches of nice dense snow was followed by about 25 feet of wind.  Great skiing and smiles all around today (Saturday) along with a couple of grooming challenges!

This was this fellows first day on nordic skis and he seemed to be having a blast.  There's nothing like lots of fresh snow and nice weather to make a great first day on skis.

These two were out on the trails on Saturday for their first time on cross country skis.  What a beautiful day for an introduction to this great sport.  Look close and you can see a big thumbs up!

"Rain?  We don't mind, we're Penguins and Polar Bears - we live for this stuff."  So undaunted, they head out for day two of fun at Great Glen before a few indoor activities.

As Wayne was heading up on his SnowCoach yesterday this is the sight they saw and the reason they had to stop in the road.  You never know just what you'll see when you head up to treeline on the SnowCoach.

Last night's new snow perfectly groomed combined with sunny blue skies, mid 20s temperatures and no wind - wooohee!  Smiles all around from our first time Great Glen skiers from Maine.

Here's Sue out on the trails chatting with a couple of first year cross country enthusiasts who are in the area for the winter.  Originally from Key West and Atlanta, they're enjoying this new sport!

On Monday afternoon we hosted the xc portion of the Pinkham Pursuit, a combination alpine and cross country race between Gorham, Conway and Fryeburg high schools.  It's a low pressure end of the season race that often has some ski team members skiing in a discipline that's not their strong suit - alpine racers trying to race xc, and xc racers trying to race alpine.  Good fun!  Here Aron battles Seth for 3rd and 4th in the nordic portion. Fryeburg took the overall skimeister award.

12/2/08 We've re-groomed since the rain and the skiing is quite fine!

Since it rarely snows in the tunnel, we're making sure that wehave plenty of snow in there for the Atomic Sprints on Saturday.

Nearly one-hundred skiers raced in the 2008 Atomic Sprints at Great Glen Trails. Racers were treated to excellent early season conditions.

Six inches of new snow in Pinkham Notch, and we're back in business. Susan headed out to check things out this afternoon. Oh yeah...more snow on the way! YEEHAW!!!

Some new friends from CT stopped in to have a ski and enjoy the afternoon.  "We'll be back - we want to try the tubing too".  More snow coming this weekend so we're looking good for Christmas week - see you soon.

If you look closely, you might be able to see to Ryan behind all those snowflakes. More snow on the way!

With the big storm the other day we now have the snow cover to be in full operation!  The  SnowCoach and tubing hill will be in daily operation as weather permits.  We'll be closed for Christmas Day so our crew can enjoy the day with their families - see you soon.

I asked this guy if he was having fun. He said, "Yup," and just kept right on going. That pretty much sums it up.

There's quite an active group of young skiers coming out for our Sunday gathering of the BKL!  Today Sue had 20 skiers and some of their parents out there playing games and having fun.  With the sun out and the wind finally gone it was a great day to be on snow!
