Above treeline in the Presidentials
Weather is nice.
As I documented here, D and I hiked from Route 302 to the summit of Washington at the beginning of August. In our continuing quest to finish the Appalachian Trail, we hiked from the summit of Washington down to Pinkham Notch on Sunday. And once again, we had great weather. Good stuff. It's not often you get perfect weather over the Presidential range, but we managed to pull it off. Or, more accurately, we got lucky. Either way, we're not complaing. Needless to say, fall is a really beautiful time in the White Mountains. What a day!
Of course, there's always something to grumble about. Man, this section of trail is rugged. It's 13.4 miles along the AT from the summit of Washington to Pinkham Notch. Most of it is above treeline and most of it is covered with angry rocks. That being said, the beauty more than makes up for it. My feet don't necessarily agree, but they can't really see the view since they're jammed inside my boots.

Crazy Moose Draw was named when John Frado, the trail designer, had a very close encounter with a very mad moose.
