More ads: Beauty
Dove is doing a good job.
I hope that by now you seen the Dove "Evolution" film. It's part of their Campaign for Real Beauty. Essentially, it's an attack on the ridiculous notions of beauty that we, as Americans, have been taught are correct. It's a great campaign, and very smart for a company like Dove. Granted, it's risky because they are selling "beauty products," but it works so well because they use "real" women in all their ads, etc. They've done a great job.
Here's the latest installment from Dove called "Onslaught."
I don't have a daughter. And after watching that, I'm glad. Because, quite frankly, that's really scary. How can we be expected to protect our kids from unattainable, ridiculous, socially constructed visions of beauty? Literally, everywhere you look someone is telling you something about beauty. Many adults can't even handle it. I did some push ups this morning after I watched that. It's crazy. It's good to see that Dove is bringing the point to light in a medium and from a messenger you might not expect. I hope they keep it up.
Anyway, hopefully, my next post will be about something less serious. Perhaps, there's more 80's music in our future!

Crazy Moose Draw was named when John Frado, the trail designer, had a very close encounter with a very mad moose.
