Making Snow Yet??

A shot from last year!

We're all anxious!

So with the onset of some moderately chilly nights we've been fielding calls, emails and blog comments about when we'll start making snow.  It's still early, very early.  How the few alpine areas in the neighborhood justify it at this time of the year is beyond me.  The ground isn't frozen at this point so regardless of the air temps as soon as you start making snow, it starts melting from the ground heat. From our perspective it dosn't make economic sense to be blowing snow when the ground is soft and the daytime temps are still in the 50s and even (like today) in the 60s.  We're anxious to get going on the snowmaking but we've got some waiting to do yet.  We'll be thrilled to post photos from the first night when we get going but the stars aren't quite in alignment yet.

Maybe you could send a dump truck up to the top and shovel on a load of snow that you could dump in the parking lot just to get in the mood!!! Probably everyone's in the mood already except me!! GAB in Hudson, FL.

One more weekend of cross racing then it's time to crank up the system! When is the first sprint race? It's going to be a good winter. BTW- great racing this past weekend- thanks for putting on such a fun event. sven

@ sven: I'll only tell you when the sprint race is, if you promise to race.
