Maybe I should get a bike...

The Porky Gulch Classic wrapped up this weekend, and without a doubt, it is the coolest bike race ever. Three really unique stages, and a good time had by all. This is the event that makes me want to race bikes. However, to race bikes, one would need to train. To train, one would need to own a bike. At this point, I don't even own a bike. Maybe I should get one.

In any event, if you've ever thought about bike racing you should seriously think about riding this race next year. I truly believe it's going to become one of the most popular races in New England. Thanks to everyone who rode with us this weekend, and we hope to see you and two friends next year!

you should get a bike! A couple quick thoughts on the race- at Story Land have the finish line further down the front straight to make for a better sprint finish- the start can remain the same just have the finish further down. Also use colored tape in the park not white- it'll improve visibility. I would agree this is the best weeked of bike racing out there (or at least on par with 24HOGG)- such a cool collection of races and racers. I just wish we could race in Story Land on a regular basis. Now since you don't have a bike yet- you and Eli should put on a roller ski race on the same course down at Story Land.

@sven: I'll be sure the course gurus get your suggestion on the crit finish line...seems to make sense to me. If you could race Story Land on a regular basis, would it be as cool? I think not. The problem with getting a bike is the same "problem" I have with skis. The problem that causes anyone who enters my "basement" for the first time to say: "Holy crap, you have a lot of skis."
