It Snowed!

(More blog entries from ryan)

But is it just a tease?

About three inches on the ground in Pinkham Notch thanks to the first real snowfall of the season. Not really enough to make it completely white. Let's call it whitish.

The question is: How long wil it last?

The better question is: Does this mean that winter is here?

Definitely a tough call. It certainly looks like winter is here, and I sure hope it lasts. Only time will tell.

I will say it is definitely a tease because it's not really enough for me to take Eli's rock skis out on it. Plus, the ground isn't even quite frozen yet. And at this time of year more than a small dose of snow, we need cold temps so the ground will freeze. Because frozen ground means we can make snow. There's really no sense on making snow on unfrozen ground because it doesn't stick and it melts quickly. Not really the best investment. The forecast looks promising over the next few days to really firm up that terra firma. Anyone have a meat thermometer we can borrow?

Ryan, I love your blogs and your enthusiasm, but you are acting like a little kid before Christmas...it WILL get cold and it WILL snow in NH...it is still mid November and you get to have seasons! Pity us SO CA people with 90 degrees, no leaves changing color and still in shorts! But the surf is excellent! Miss you guys!
