Wrapping Presents

A strange feeling at the holidays.

Who decided that we have to wrap presents? It's a strange tradition.

"I got you something very special. You're going to love it. But, I've hermetically sealed it and encased it in steel reinforced concrete. Enjoy."

But, I don't make the rules, so D and I wrapped some presents tonight. (No last minute shopping here. She's way too on the ball for that.) I don't mind wrapping presents, and, in fact, I'm quite adept at it. But, wouldn't it just be easier to hand out a bag of goodies?

"Here, sis, enjoy."

But, nope, gotta make you work for it. Don't worry. It'll be worth it.

So, with Christmas a week away, I still don't know what I asked for. So far, I don't think anything, but since I have your attention, I'll take an iTunes gift card. (Thanks in advance.)

But, here's the strange thing. Aside from the over-zealous light displays and inflatable Santas on motorcycles in my neighborhood, it doesn't feel like the holidays. There's no snow. "I'm dreaming of a brown Christmas..." Um...not so much. So, keep your fingers crossed not only for us skiers out there, but also just to get everyone in the holiday spirit. According to the barrage of jewelry commercials I suffer through during football, I need the snow to fall to deliver the gift she'll remember for a lifetime. Thankfully, D isn't really into jewelry. But, she is definitely into snow. So, bring on the snow. We're ready. At this point, I'd be happy to shovel.
