Trails Conditions Update

(More blog entries from ryan)

Getting ready to open.

I just wanted to post a quick update on the current trail conditions.

Basically, things are drying out faster than we had anticipated. This is very good news. A couple days ago, there were a couple of sections of the trail system that still had snow on them. That has all melted. The tunnel still has a couple bits of snow/ice still in it and is currently the muddiest section. We're watching the forecast, which is calling for scattered showers over the next 48 hours. If we don't get much rain, we may be able to get out and roll the trails on Friday.

Roll the trails you ask? In the same way we groom the trails in the winter, we have work to do in the summer. We need to compact the trails to ensure a smooth surface and prevent erosion. Makes for a nice surface for biking.

Anyway, if we can get out and roll Friday, we may...I stress, may...be able to open for mountain biking on Saturday. Keep checking back for the updates.

As far as the trail running series goes, we're on. Eli was out marking the course yesterday. As far as mud on the single track...well, you'll just have to see.

See you tomorrow!
