Mud musings

(More blog entries from marty)

Weather is always a factor and this rain has me thinking about mud. When I think about mud, I think about a story 24 Hour competitor Dave Chandler once told me. He was in the feared Outback, mud up to his knees. He ended up running and the mud sucked both the shoes off his feet. He eventually found both shoes, muddied of course. If this rain doesn't let up, well, anyone know a guy named Noah?

I remember that year well. You had to pedal down Dugway Trace or your bike would stop in the mud. The smart riders were riding in the stream created by the runoff because it was faster!

Yeah, that was certainly an interesting race that year. I remember totally submerging my ride in a stream so I could get braking/shifting working again.
