Summer’s Here & Nature Buzzes with the First Annual ‘There’s A Black Fly In My Eye’ Trail Running Race and Relay

(More news)
Pinkham Notch, NH – Great Glen Trails Outdoor Center hosts the first annual, There’s A Black Fly In My Eye 15k Trail Running Race and Relay event on Sunday, June 25th. The race is comprised of both individual runners and relay teams made up of two to three people running the diverse and challenging terrain of the three-loop course.

“The strategy to completing the 15K course is based on how many people are on the team,” explains Howie Wemyss, General Manager of Great Glen Trails Outdoor Center. “Individual runners take on the entire course, while teams of two and three split the loops among the group, using different members’ strengths to complete the challenge.”

The course, designed to test the individual abilities and limits of the runners, is comprised of three loops, each having its own unique character. The first leg, referred to as the North Loop contains winding and rolling carriage roads. Next is the Aqueduct Loop, the most rugged of the three with a rocky trail surface with stream crossings and boggy segments. The West Loop finishes the race off, consisting of carriage roads, single track, a river crossing and an uphill sprint to the finish.

Awards and a cash barbecue follow the race. Participants are able to pre-register for the event online at www.runreg.com. Early registration is $15.00 for individuals and $25.00 for teams, day of race registration is available from 8:00 - 9:00 am and will cost $20.00 for individuals and $35.00 for teams.  There’s a The Black Fly In My Eye 15k Trail Running Race and Relay event begins promptly at 10:00 am.
