Nordic Meisters Returns to Great Glen Trails
(More news)
Pinkham Notch, NH—Nordic Meisters, the largest weekly cross country race series in the country began Tuesday at Great Glen Trails Outdoor Center.
More than 50 competitors participated in the first week, and Great Glen Trails Outdoor Center expects the event to draw more than 100 competitors throughout the season.
“Nordic Meisters highlights the best of Great Glen Trails: fun and community,” said Howie Wemyss, Great Glen Trails Outdoor Center General Manager. “Each year we have competitors of all ages come out to not only challenge themselves but also enjoy winter and socialize. It’s our Tuesday family.”
Originally scheduled as an eight week series, Nordic Meisters runs for seven weeks this season after the cancellation of the first week due to insufficient snow. Participants race against the clock on a 5km Nordic Meister course. Nordic Meisters features divisions for men, women and juniors for both skate and classic techniques. With an age adjustment system, all ages can compete on a level playing field. The timing desk is open and available between the hours of 9:00 am and 3:45 pm. An awards party will be held on March 10 at the end of the series with the top three skiers in each class awarded trophies, while all participants completing five out of seven weeks are entered into a prize raffle.
