Ski to the Clouds
Anybody want to make some money?
SO, about this ski to the clouds race...things we know for sure:
-it's over 2000 vertical gain in 10k
-it's gonna be a really unique race
-the pain factor may be high for those that choose to push hard up the road
-I will not be taking any prize money home!
The thing we do not know at this point is if a classic skier or a skate skier will have the fastest time. So, you want to make some money? Well, let's get a little side betting going here...As most of you know I am a skate skier and will be forever, therefore I will be betting on the skater. In almost all events if you put a skate skier next to a classic skier the skater will win. Keep in mind this is not "most events". However the race does travel over 4 kilometers before hitting the climb. I think this is ample time to put a skate skier in the lead far enough to keep it throughout the race. Yes, we will have to think about kick wax and temps and all that jazz, but I'm betting on the skater. It will be interesting to see how many people actually choose to race classic.
Who do you have your money on?

Classic all the way. (Especially, if he/she skates the first 4k.)

Ryan, you need snowshoes now that you are getting older. I don't want you to fall over and get hurt on the way up the mountain.

I was hoping to just take the SnowCoach and get some pictures. Pictures of the classic skier winning that is.
BTW, I heard you had to upsize your PFD this summer after not shedding that "winter coat."

Skating for me. I think I'd use snowshoes though if i had the option.

Keep in mind, folks, that Kevin is choosing snowshoes after just running up the Road rather quickly this weekend. Personally, I wouldn't even be thinking about trying that again...well, not so soon after anyway.
Check out the tree that was too big for the beavers just south of Intersection 23.
