Cross Country Ski Areas Association Eastern Meeting

(More blog entries from ryan)

A conference about skiing.

I'm sitting in the lobby of the Mountain Top Inn & Resort in Chittenden, VT for the Cross Country Ski Areas Association Eastern Meeting. It's an evening and a day for nordic ski area types to talk shop, learn about industry trends and network. It's very refreshing to hear folks from other ski areas talk about many of the same challenges we face on a daily basis. Sometimes it's good to know you're not alone. I know this may come as a surprise to some of you, but the ski industry is not all rainbows and candy.

Great presentation last night by Great Glen Trails blog commenter and Porky Gulch racer Sven about using the web to connect with your guests. I have to admit that's probably part of the reason that I'm posting this update this morning.

Which brings me to a question: Anything any of you would like to see posted here? Anything you'd like to hear about that's happening at Great Glen Trails this winter? In the coming days and weeks, you can definitely expect an update on our snowmaking progress and opening plans. It's not that far away.

In the meantime, let me know. And if I don't hear from anyone, you can also expect more uninteresting updates on my blisters and trail runs.

It was good to connect at the meeting! I'd enjoy reading about the challenges that "real athletes" face when getting up to train- and how they trick themselves into getting thier workouts in- let us mere mortals know we're not alone in our challenge to find fitness! I also remember some funny bits about wax boxes from last year. Hoping for snow! sven
