The Thaw

(More blog entries from ryan)

I'll take the blame.

As we hardy New Englanders know, every Janury brings a thaw. It's inevitable. It's part of the charm of New England winters, and it's what makes us truly appreciate the December we just enjoyed.

That being said, I was speaking with someone today who asked "What are you going to do about this thaw?"  As if the world had come to end. My reply was simple: "Keep skiing." That's my plan, anyway. Like I said, December was good to us.

However, I can't help but feel somewhat responsible for the dramatic temperature swing. I'm not referring to this earlier post. No, I'm referring to a recent purchase. I just bought a pair of corduroys. Corduroys are good, solid New England winter pants, but I haven't owned a pair for years and years. I just picked some up last week to keep me warm for the rest of the winter. Maybe I should return them and get a grass skirt.

Ryan, You don't have to take all the blame. I got my first pair of lined jeans in over twenty years this December. That first pair were the red flannel-lined Levis the Olympic Team was issued in '84 as part of our Opening Ceremony parade uniform. I can't wait for it to get cold enough again to pick my new lined Carhartts over unlined ones.

A-HA! I knew I'd flush out the real culprit! I didn't buy any corduroys. It was all an elaborate ruse. <evil laugh>

Sue, that is TOO funny! As after you moved somewhere I adopted those red lined jeans for myself! Hand me down clothes from the younger sis!
