Ski with a Naturalist

back to topIn conjunction with the Appalachian Mountain Club, Great Glen Trails offers you the chance to really get to know Pinkham Notch. When you ski with a naturalist, you will learn about the flora and fauna that make our corner of the world so special. You’ll scout for tracks in the snow. You’ll learn about the different trees in the Glen. You’ll listen for distinct bird calls. You’ll truly begin understand how the ecosystem works in Pinkham Notch. Free with a trail pass.

Performance Group 9:30-10:30 am
Recreation Group 10:45-11:45 amSkiing for fabulous women! A weekly ski class for women emphasizing instruction and fun. The Performance Group is geared toward those who are already solid in their basic cross country skiing skills, and are looking to make technical improvements for more efficiency and/or faster speed. The Recreation Group also receives instruction, working on basic skills and becoming more comfortable in varying terrain. Both classes are led by Great Glen’s Ski School Director and Olympian, Sue Wemyss. Participants should have some prior cross country skiing experience, have an interest in learning and improving, and have the desire to be part of a fun and supportive group.

Nordic Meisters

back to topFor eight weeks, skiers of all abilities challenge themselves on the race courses with prizes awarded in age categories and through a raffle. We also offer a non-timed category for those looking for all the fun without the the racing! Nordic Meisters isn’t just about skiing as 2012 will be the third year of our snowshoe division. Some Meisters even race all three divisions!
Plus, all Nordic Meisters can ski or snowshoe FREE every Tuesday throughout the winter season—even on non-race days! An awards party and potluck dinner will be held on Friday, March 16.
